Toyota 'Keep It Wild' Google+ Hangout
starting place
Toyota's agency Saatchi LA wanted to reach 4Runner fans in a totally new and untested way using the Google+ Hangout Platform and pushing it to its limits.
What we did
The TimeTravlr team (prior to TimeTravlr) successfully pulled off the first-ever off-road Google+ Hangout On Air featuring theToyota 4Runner. Professional stunt driver Andy Bell took the wheel of Toyota’s 4Runner, and as he drove, host Rutledge Wood (of History channel’s Top Gear) talked with him through a headset. Using a wireless multi-camera setup (10 cameras, a Google Glass cam, remote feeds, fiber optics, and 4G internet), the 45 minute-long hangout worked to reply to questions on the fly and demonstrate the answers with action as Bell showcased how the 4Runner aptly handles various off-road obstacles.
Viewers participated via Google+ throughout the hangout, sending in questions, and providing feedback. The 45 minute Hangout itself accumulated more than 10,000 views within the first 24 hours of the event, and the sizzle video which showcases highlights from the live production, has been viewed more than 20,000 times on YouTube.
